SailEvent Privacy Policy

Sailing Club Software Limited understands that your privacy is important to you and that you care about how your information is used and shared online. We respect and value the privacy of everyone who uses our services.

SailEvent is a service of Sailing Club Software Ltd and we have created this privacy statement covering the SailEvent service in order to demonstrate our commitment to your privacy.

Information Held

We store and process data which you provide to us when you register with SailEvent for the purpose of us providing you with a GPS position service and email/SMS alert service. Under this service a competition organiser also using our service may record your position and send you email and SMS alerts regarding sign on/off in competitions they organise and which you have chosen to enter.

You are the controller of your data and your privacy. At any time you may edit or delete the data you have provided to us, namely your email address, your phone number, your GPS device identifier. At any time you may de-register your GPS device or temporarily de-activate it, so that position data cannot be collected by any competition organiser using our service.

Our Data Protection Statement defines how we keep your data safe.

The following information is held for each individual who chooses to register with SailEvent:

  • Email address
  • SailEvent password
  • Phone number for optional SMS alerts
  • GPS position of registered device, when device is active

 

Use of Your Personal Information

We use the information provided to us to deliver the service requested by you and by the organiser of competitions you have chosen to enter.

This includes:

  • Display your boat’s GPS position on the web during the competitions entered
  • Send alerts by email and SMS regarding the competitions
  • Facilitate sign on/off for the competitions
  • Allow you to view and update your own information on the web

We keep your data only for as long as we need to in order to provide the service requested by you and the organiser of competitions you have chosen to enter, up to a maximum 72hrs for each competition.

It is important that you understand that the position data recorded by SailEvent cannot guarantee that your position is known at any time by the organiser of a competition you have entered, and cannot ensure your safety.

Access to Your Personal Information

You may view, correct, or delete all the information you have provided to us about you at any time by logging in to your SailEvent account. The log in reminder process is automatic so there should be no need to contact us.

Once deleted in SailEvent we shall ensure that all copies in service backups are also deleted within 6 weeks.

Disclosure of Your Personal Information

We will not sell or disclose your personal information to any third parties except successors in title to our business and if required by government bodies and law enforcement agencies.

Security of Your Personal Information

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Privacy Options

SailEvent stores only that data which you have chosen to provide to us, and uses the data only for purposes chosen by you. In particular GPS position data about your device is stored only if and when you choose to register a device with us and activate it. When you enter a competition for which the organiser has chosen to use SailEvent then it is your choice to permit your GPS position data to be gathered or not and it is your choice whether or not to receive email or SMS alerts about the event.

Revisions

We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy at any time. If we make changes we will indicate the new effective date at the top. We encourage you to refer to this document on an ongoing basis so that you understand our current policy.
